Back in December, I reviewed the third and lastest of Meg Cabot’s Heather Wells mysteries, Big Boned. Heather is a size 12/14 pop-sensation-turned-residence-hall-director who solves, gulp, murders on a fictional college campus in New York. The funny and thoroughly entertaining books are packed with romance, suspense, and, yes, real body issues and acceptances.

Our favorite body editor/editor mom tipped me off to this topic a few days ago, and I’ve been quietly following it ever since. So imagine my surprise and delight to find one of my fellow b5media bloggers quoted in a story about it in today’s NYT business section!
Excerpt: “While many individuals spoke to us about […]

Okay, this is one of those stories that evokes a big sigh and a “Kids today…” speech, despite the fact that I’m only 25 and supposedly still hip. Or whatever they call it now, those young whippersnappers.
A Facebook group called “30 Reasons Girls Should Call It a Night” features more than 172,000 members and close […]

Maybe we should be giving out condoms in taxis and clubs here in the US like they’re planning to do in the UK, because teen pregnancy rates are up for the first time in a decade and a half.
The birth rate had been dropping since its peak in 1991, although the decline had slowed in […]
