KK’s Live Healthy Journal: Office Organization
Part of my effort to live healthy is getting in better shape psychologically and emotionally, and that means relieving stress. If you follow my women’s business blog Biz Chicks Rule, you already know that I have, shall we say, a filing problem. That little problem turned into a File Box of Doom that was taking over my life: a literal cardboard box full of unopened mail and important papers that REALLY needed to be organized and placed somewhere safe. But for months, I have been putting stuff into this box to file “later.” Every time I stepped into my office, it was there, taunting me. I hated that stupid box.
In a burst of organizing energy, I transferred the contents of the box into magazine holders (and tossed the box) in the hope that changing the appearance of the files would make them easier to tackle. Instead, I ended up with a Corner of Shame. Whoops. But over the last few weekends, I did FINALLY bust out some seriously hard filing work. I went through each magazine holder and either tossed, shredded, or classified every single item. Then, I took my nice neat piles and put them into a Rubbermaid container that sat in my office for a week before I steeled myself and filed every single item today. I rock. AND I set up a system to keep the pileup from happening again. (More detail and photos on Biz Chicks Rule this week. Check it out!)
I’m feeling a little guilty that I spend the whole day doing this and didn’t do any exercise, but I’m going to see Rilo Kiley tonight in Richmond, so I think dancing there will count for the day’s workout, right? And besides, the mental anguish of my office organization HAS to count for something calorically… And don’t forget that I biked myself right into gastrointestinal meltdown yesterday!
