Women’s Health Giveaway: 3 Copies of High Heels to Hormones: A Woman’s Guide to Spine Care by Christina Lasich, MD
If you liked Christina Lasich’s guest post about preventing back pain with better sleep techniques, you will LOVE this giveaway. Dr. Lasich is offering a copy of High Heels to Hormones: A Woman’s Guide to Spine Care for three lucky Lively Women readers.
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and say whether you’re a side sleeper, a stomach sleeper, or a back sleeper (or some combination), and you’ll be eligible to win! One entry per person. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. ET on Friday, June 6, and I’ll announce the winners right here on Monday, June 9. Winners will be selected at random using the sequence generator at Random.org.
Some info about the book:
As a woman suffering from chronic low back pain herself, Christina Lasich, MD, knows all too well how gender influences pain. Frustrated by the lack of gender-specific information available for women, Dr. Lasich was inspired to write High Heels to Hormones: A Woman’s Guide to Spine Care (iUniverse, May 2008), a book they can turn to for advice about their spine.
Contents include information about bras, pregnancy, hormones, high-heeled shoes, shapely bodies, osteoporosis and other topics specific to women’s health. She also discusses the impact of convenience foods, smoking, exercise, high-achieving, multitasking lifestyles, and more.
Highly informative, High Heels to Hormones is also a quick and easy read. It’s laced with humor, charming cartoon illustrations, and a lighthearted tone, giving the reader a sense of optimism and hope.
Sound like your kind of read? What are you waiting for? Leave a comment!

Hi Kristen - never know which blog to put now in the website text box!
I’m a side sleeper. I have a bad back. Nurses tend to get those, so lying on my back is nigh impossible and i’ve never slept on my stomach.
I always have support between my knees - can’t sleep any other way.

I actually sleep all three ways throughout the night. I have a messed up shoulder and acid reflux so I am forced to turn on a regular basis in order to be able to sleep throughout the night.

I’m an all-over sleeper. For the last few years, it seems like no matter what position I sleep in, I can never get comfy enough to enjoy a full night’s sleep. That’s really bad, too, because I have severe TMD and was told the best sleeping position for me is flat on my back, but I just can’t seem to do that. Anyway, I think for the most part I sleep on my side.

Sounds like a great book! When my back hurts, life can seem impossible. I mostly sleep on my right side! Please enter me in your book drawing. Thanks,Cindi

I’m a side/stomach sleeper. My worst part about how I sleep is a lay with my arm jutting upwards under my head.

I’m a stomach sleeper with chronic back pain. I’ve always associated with my past when I did all those things my mom said I would regret later in life when I couldn’t stand up straight.

I’m suffering with sleep apnea and have had herniated disks… I start out on my back - sometimes end up on my side… and my cpap gets all twisted up.

I sleep on my side and back. I prefer to sleep on my back, but always have a newborn it seems like, so I sleep a lot on my side (nursing!).

I’d love to read this book! I’m a predominantly stomach sleeper, but sometimes side. I’ve never been able to fall asleep on my back for some reason. I have osteoarthritis so I’d really like to know the best way that I should be sleeping.

I’m a side sleeper - I always feel most comfortable lying on my site, and I believe that I always fall asleep that way. However, my husband claims that during the night whenever he wakes up, I’m always on my back.
(Just disocvered your blog today - very cool! :-)

I’m a stomach sleeper. I end up all contorted through-out the night. Needless to say, in the morning, my back feels awful.

I’m a side sleeper! No matter what position I fall asleep in, I always end up on my side. I try to lay on my right side, because I’ve heard that’s best for your heart.

I sleep on whichever side the cat lets me.
Well, for the most part I usually wake up on my side, usually the one turned away from the clock or the radio. I try to fall asleep on my back but I rarely stay there.
My lower back doesn’t bother me nearly as much as my arms and shoulder does but there are mornings where I’ll get up and feel my entire spine reallign.

I can only fall asleep lying on my left side (something ingrained from pregnancy perhaps?) but will move during the night to my back or the other side. Sleeping on my stomach gives me instant back pain.

I’m a stomach sleeper, and sometimes side. I cannot sleep on my back, even though I have tried for years! Book looks great, would love to read it.
