Stupid Cancer Happy Hour on August 23 in NYC
Hate cancer and love cocktails? Then get yourself over to the Stupid Cancer Happy Hour, 6-10 p.m., August 23, at The Village Pourhouse (64 Third Ave. @ 11th St.). This awareness event is sponsored by I’m Too Young For This (i[2]y), a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about cancer in people under 40.
I had the pleasure of attending the DC Stupid Cancer Happy Hour on August 4, and partied the night away with i[2]y founder and long-time friend of mine Matthew Zachary, an 11-year brain cancer survivor and award-winning composer and pianist. Yeah, he’s pretty cool.
So, check it out! Get more info at the i[2]y website.

I’m glad you had fun at the earlier one! So is the main purpose of this event to raise awareness, or do they raise money, too, for some kind of research or other funding?
By the way, you’ve been tagged for a b5media blog specific meme - check out the details over at http://www.mentalhealthnotes.com/?p=241

We’re not about research in the slightest. We’ll let the big boys handle that stuff. We’re about ending isolation, buidling community and making it hip to be a survivor. Pretty much the exact opposite of The American Cancer Society and the government.

Thanks, Matt! And what I was going to say is that it’s all about awareness and support programs for survivors and their families and friends.
