Young or old, overweight or slim, male or female, we all need to be conscious of our heart health. Here are eight things to keep in mind when thinking about your overall health:
- Your family history, particularly your mother.
- Your cholesterol, both your total and the good and bad kinds.
- Sometimes diet and exercise aren’t enough, so don’t be afraid to ask your doctor about cholesterol-lowering drugs.
- Your body type, that is, where you carry your weight, can have an impact on your health.
- Your fat intake should be as low as possible.
- You need to quit smoking entirely RIGHT NOW.
- You must be really careful about diabetes, even gestational diabetes.
- Women and men are different in a lot of ways, including when it comes to heart health.

Now you can come tell me I’m fooling myself.
