Finding Humor in Potentially Stressful Situations Is Healthy
The other week, I managed to lock myself out of my house for four hours, with my purse, my mail, my banking, my puppy, and about two dozen wire hangers. I was definitely mad at myself for doing it, but fortunately, I found it more amusing than anything else once it all sunk in. Granted, I still feel like a moron for doing it, but it’s a funny story. You can read the whole thing in my Inkthinker blog post My day so far (a tragicomedy).
Why am I telling you this? My brother and his girlfriend came to visit from New Jersey for the weekend. Hubby and I were running errands, so I gave him instructions to let himself into the house (using the key from the new lock-out key box we hid after my, um, incident). We’re in Costco when Jesse’s phone rings with a strange local number. My brother had arrived, let himself in, turned off the alarm, set everything down, took the dogs out, and locked himself out of the house. After letting himself in with the lock-out key.
I knew we were related.
