Chewable Birth Control Hits the Shelves
According to an article at Discovery News, a new oral contraceptive is now available in pharmacies.
Femcon Fe, which contains the same hormones as standard oral contraceptives, offers a new option for women who don’t like swallowing pills and want to take their birth control with them, according to Carl Reichel, president of drugmaker Warner Chilcott of Rockaway.
Not sure yet how I feel about spearmint-flavored, chewable birth control (I worry about curious children getting into my purse and thinking they’re candy), but I bet this is great news for those women who have trouble swallowing pills and aren’t well suited for other birth control options.
Me, well, I’ll be sticking with my Kariva, which is the generic (read: just as good but not as expensive) formulation of Mircette. What do you prefer?
