Online Fitness Support Groups (if exercising for comments isn’t your thing)
As Lori pointed out in her comment on Shooting Yourself in the…Waistline?, the fact that Weight Watchers has an online component definitely speaks to the sedentary nature of our society. However, it also speaks to the importance of giving people the tools that work for them.
On that note, iVillage and Women’sHealth have both launched online groups to help women get and stay in shape. You can check out iVillage’s “iLose It for Good Community Challenge” by clicking here, and WH’s “Get Fit Now!” by clicking here.

I’m not joining an online group, but I am hiring a personal trainer.

Welcome Kristen to b5media. I have to admit I haven’t been checking out this blog… yet, but hope to keep an eye on the things you blog about. I just hope that lively women are not only concerned about their weight, etc. ;-)

my backyard, that’s a great idea. I’d love to hear more about it! Are you using someone at a local health club or having someone come to your home?
Heather, thanks for swinging by. I’m really glad you made that comment! For me, this isn’t about weight–it’s about getting my body into the condition it wants and deserves to be in. It’s about having more energy and feeling strong!
True confession: I don’t even own a scale. I base my level of in-shapeness by how I feel and how my clothes feel on me (and yes, that sometimes means buying new clothes ;]), and I encourage others to consider energy level as their benchmark for health.
Certainly we know that obesity carries serious health risks, but so does being at “ideal” weight and not exercising regularly. I hope lively women everywhere will see getting in shape as a huge investment in their overall health and a major preventive measure against serious and potentially terminal illness. More on that to come!
Great comments, ladies. Keep ‘em coming!

my backyard, I did that for 3 months and got GREAT results–and then I stopped going to the gym when my training period ended. I wish I had stuck with it! Good luck to you.
