Three Secrets to A Real Woman’s Weight Loss
I met a woman over the weekend who really has her act together health-wise. She’s a busy mom and works as a software engineer from home, yet she looks great and feels great. I asked her what her secrets were. (Just for your reading pleasure, of course.)
She said she had trouble losing the weight after her last child was born, so she started drinking water to make herself feel full. “I drink nine bottles of water a day,” she said. “I fill them up in the morning and set them on my counter. Then I know exactly how to pace myself throughout the day.”
I asked her if she made time to exercise, and she said she gets up every morning at 4:30 am, and runs for half an hour on her home treadmill while she watches the news. “I jog three miles, and my treadmill says I burn about 500 calories during that time.”
One more secret: she said when she was really trying to lose weight, she religiously kept a Food Diary. “The Food Diary absolutely changed my life. When I thought about having to write down that I ate an extra two cookies, I found I’d rather not eat than have to write it down.”
She said that drinking her water has helped her maintain the weight loss through the years because it helps her feel full. “And if I don’t drink that much water, I can tell my energy level is lower.”
One more tip: I asked her what time she goes to bed, since she gets up so early. She said. “Lights out at 8:30, and I’m asleep by 9 on weekdays.” Wow!

Wow! And I say that mostly about that early bedtime! My night begins at 9 p.m. when the kids go to bed!

Mine too — I can’t imagine going to bed that early. Which is also why I can’t get up at 4:30. LOL
She has definitely inspired to get back on my treadmill!

[…] Over the weekend, I took two big steps toward improving my health. The first thing is that I got out my dusty ol’ TREADMILL (do you have one?), moved it to a nice location in front of our basement window, and I’ve used it three days in a row. Not walking, but running. My friend who jogs three miles a day in half an hour on her treadmill has inspired me. The trick is to have the radio or TV on so your mind doesn’t get bored. I got a cheap headset that attaches to my waistband — and I’m going to plan my jogs to radio programs I like to listen to. My favorite is Focus on the Family, which comes on at 5 am. Winter’s coming, folks — and we gotta stay active or we’ll pack on the pounds. […]
