Overcoming Depression: Rhonda Jones’ Story
Like millions of people, author Rhonda Jones once struggled with depression. She felt like her negative thoughts kept her in a constant downward spiral.
She says, “About seven years ago, my mind was so encumbered by pain and regret I found it difficult just getting through the day. Some days while at work I’d go into the bathroom stall and just cry.”
She tried counseling and antidepressants, and she also prayed for God to take her oppressive thoughts away. Although she would feel better temporarily, the next day, her anxieties and fears would return.
One day, she stumbled across a solution that transformed her life, and led to her starting a business to help others. She describes what happened:
While sitting in my car waiting for my daughter to get out of school, I started to take deep breaths and with each exhalation I would mentally say, I release pain, I release stress, and I release worry … It was like I was pushing these toxic emotions out of my body. With each breath I felt freer until I had a peace that I hadn’t experienced in months.
Later, Rhonda took these deep breathing exercises and incorporated them with scriptures to help people overcome negative thoughts that lead to depression, low self esteem, addictions, bad habits, and other mental ailments. She developed a series of guided Christian Meditation and Relaxation CDs that are helping others take authority over their thought life.
