Sleeping Positions Help Prevent Backache
I’ve noticed a lot of people around me lately have been complaining of backaches. Especially lower back pain. Well, a good deal of the problem of course is that we’ve become an information-oriented society, so we spend hours a day in front of the computer as part of our work.
But here’s a tip I learned from a chiropractor over ten years ago — something I might even say changed my life. I was a health reporter for my university’s daily newspaper, and I was researching an article on back pain, so I called a local chiropractor to ask a few questions.
He told me you should always sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees, to take pressure off your lower back during sleeping hours. I’d never heard of this, but I’ve done this ever since. And the only times I’ve ever experienced back pain are during the last trimester of pregnancy (who doesn’t?) or when we’ve moved, and I’ve spent way too many hours hauling boxes around.
Of course, there are many causes for lower back pain: accidents, genetics, aging, etc. But here’s just a tip I’m passing along. You can’t be all that lively if your back is holding you down.
