Coffee: Drink Up and Be Healthy

Here’s the kind of research I love to read: coffee may be good for your health. In the recent USA Weekend, Jean Carper’s EatSmart column focused on several health benefits of coffee.
Women ages 55 to 69 who drank 1 to 3 cups a day were 24% less likely to die of heart disease than non-coffee drinkers, according to an Iowa Women’s Health study of 270,000 women. In addition, a Harvard study showed that women who drink 6 cups of caffeinated coffee per day had 30% less risk of developing Type 2 diabetes as non-coffee drinkers.
As in everything, moderation seems to be the key. Still, it’s nice to know drinking my daily cup of java may be good for my health!
