Yogurt: A Staple of the Healthy Woman’s Diet
I’ve been trying to add more yogurt to my diet, since it’s recommended in most weight loss plans. It’s high in protein (which helps curb hunger) and has all sorts of goodies like calcium (for strong bones) and acidophilus (to help prevent infections.)
My problem is that grocery-store yogurts are so whopping high in sugar. A teeny-weeny 6-oz. container of Yoplait Light, Fat-Free Yogurt contains 14g of sugar. And sugar is a simple carb that makes me high on life for about 30 minutes, then zonked, depleted.
So, here’s my solution. I like the taste of Stonyfield Farm Organic Lowfat Plain Yogurt. It’s got a nice, creamy consistency. To make it more carb-friendly, I mix it with a few nuts, peanut butter, or soy protein mix. It’s good. And it makes me feel full a long time. Which is even better.

I agree that rather than getting a sweetened/flavored or added fruit yogurt, it might be better and healthier to add your own fresh fruit or nuts to plain yogurt.
