Marching for Diabetes
I hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July yesterday. I’m here to report to you that I did it — I walked in my first ever city parade. I think it was about five miles — and it was hot! But I had a blast — there were about a dozen of us from Curves. We carried signs and passed out coupons for free visits and nail files that said “Curves: The Power to Amaze Yourself.” I should have put my b5 media website on my sign and gotten a few new visitors here. Next time, for sure.
My sign said, “Burn more than 500 calories in 30 minutes.” Another woman carried a sign that read “Type II Diabetes is 100% preventable with Diet and Exercise.” One of the ladies I walked with said she was just diagnosed with diabetes, and that’s why she joined. She said her blood sugar was out of control until she started exercising.
My Dad has Type I diabetes, and my grandfather died when I was 3 from complications of Type I. So I know, somewhere, I’ve got a hidden diabetic gene. And I’m going to do all I can to keep that disease locked away so it doesn’t stand a chance.
This is what it means to be a Lively Woman — we’re on the move, always one step ahead!
